By following the steps described below you can obtain one or more Active-License files.
By downloading, installing or using the software, you agree to the following:
EULA, Terms and Conditions, and Privacy Policy
Please download these software tools only from trusted locations
and verify that the checksums match.
Registration Steps:
Step [1] Enroll
- At this point, you have already used our software on your computer(s)
for at least 15 days.
- In the terminal/console, run each application you want to register on each computer:
__app__ --register
Step [2] Send the registration data
- Email us either the generated files or the text between the markers.
- Your email address will be used in the next steps,
as well as for identifying you as a customer.
- If you want to buy several licenses,
you should keep track of which text corresponds to which computer.
- The generated filenames should be sufficient to identify the correct computer.
- You can rename them as you like before sending them,
but you have to remember which ones correspond to which computer.
- Note: The numbers in the registration file are hash values.
- Original data (longer) cannot be restored from a hash (shorter).
- Only on your specific OS instance these hash numbers have a meaning.
Step [2.1] For Non-Profit registration:
- Please additionally submit proof that
our software will not be used for profit activities.
eg. The software you build using our tools is not (part of) a sold product.
Step [3] Pay to use the Active-License files
- We will check the integrity of the registration files you sent,
to verify that each Active-License file can be used on your computer(s).
Step [3.1] For Standard category (paid):
- You will receive the invoice for the Active-License files.
- After the bill is paid (bank transfer only),
you will receive the corresponding Active-License files.
Step [3.2] For Non-Profit category:
Step [4] Use the Active-License files
- You will receive at the same email address the corresponding Active-License files.
- Each Active-License file will normally have the same name as the registration file,
but with another extension,
if there are no filename conflicts.
- Copy them as instructed to the appropriate location.
- You can verify in terminal/console that the Active-License file was corerctly installed:
__app__ --license
Examples
-
Example 1:
-
For the files
__app_1-computer_name.register.txt
__app_2-computer_name.register.txt
-
you will receive license-files named like this:
__app_1-computer_name.lic
__app_2-computer_name.lic
-
It is easy to know which license file corresponds to which computer.
-
Example 2:
-
For the files
same_file_name.register.txt
same_file_name.register.txt
-
you will receive license-files named like this, probably:
same_file_name-1.lic
same_file_name-2.lic
-
You will have to try to find which license file corresponds to which computer.
Additional important notes
Active-License
- By design, the license file only needs to identify the specific context.
Hash codes are sufficient for this and also protect data privacy.
- These software applications are designed to finish their tasks as quick as possible.
- Network access only for license reasons would defeat the speed goal.
- Consequently, there are no network/shared licenses.
- An Active-License is encrypted based on numbers generated on the same OS
and on the same computer.
- Please follow the registration steps, otherwise it will not work.
Note that:
Plain text "system information"
(e.g. computer ID, other keys, hardware and software details)
is not useful for generating a license file.
Please do not send this type of information via email,
nor more sensible details than requested.
These are unusable for creating a license file from the outside.
At the same time,
if prying eyes intercept that additional information,
they can probably use it for other purposes.
It is the sender's responsibility for the information sent.
- Active-License files are perpetual.
They have no expiration date.
These should work anytime, as long as:
- These are in the right place and can be read by the software tool.
- The operating system instance on the same computer is the same.
- New software updates do not affect the operation of software applications that were working correctly before.
- There are no refunds for an Active-License.
- The user can and should test the software beforehand on his/her OS instance.
- It is up to users to use an Active-License-File or not once they have it.
- A request for an active license assumes that the user wants it and understands the context.
- Active-License variants:
- tied to a development station;
- indirectly tied to the {username and hostname} pair.
- Active-License tied to a development station.
- Every user of the development station can use the licensed tool.
- Active-License indirectly tied to {username and hostname} pair.
- The licensed tool can be used on any operating system,
provided that the customer uses the licensed tool on only one instance of
the same type of operating system at a time.
- The registration steps must be followed once on each OS instance.
- If the operating system has been reinstalled,
the registration steps may need to be completed again.
Once you are satisfied with the reinstalled operating system configuration,
contact us for a new license file for the same {username and hostname} pair,
at no additional cost.
- This type of license could be more flexible for customers and at the same
time requires a little more bureaucracy for both us and the user.
- Renewal requests for this license variant are usually limited to at least
one week and at most twice a year.
Default-License
- A Default-License is used by default, when the correct Active-License-File is not found in the right location.
- So that you can evaluate software applications within 30 days of download.
- After evaluating the application, you must either purchase and Active-License, or delete the application.
- Happy Hours [10,12). No delays during Happy Hours.
- For You to be able to evaluate a combination of software applications at full speed.
- Some of the software applications do not have registration options.
- These are free to use. No evaluation limit. No delays.
- Active-License is not required for these software applications.
